Our Registered Associate Nutritionist at Independents by Sodexo, Sophie Wallis (ANutr), has been out and about once again, spending time with pupils and teams across our school communities. Her latest visits to King’s School, Rochester and Sevenoaks School brought nutrition to life for pupils in a way that was engaging and relevant to school life, helping pupils better understand how the food they eat can support both how they feel and how they perform.
Supporting performance at King’s School, Rochester
Sophie recently visited King’s School, Rochester, where she addressed senior school pupils, on the important link between nutrition and performance.
The session explored how everyday food choices can influence concentration, stamina and recovery. Drawing on evidence-based insights, Sophie helped pupils understand how to stay fuelled effectively to support both academic focus and physical activity.
Pupils had submitted a range of thoughtful questions in advance, which helped shape the session and encouraged open discussion throughout. The level of engagement reflected a genuine interest in everyday nutrition.
Alongside the assembly, the visit also included the introduction of new healthy break-time and lunchtime menu ideas. These were well received by pupils, offering fresh, balanced options designed to support energy and focus across the school day.

Protein Pitstop at Sevenoaks School
At Sevenoaks School, Sophie supported the team in delivering a “Protein Pitstop” initiative for pupils and staff. This was an interactive session centred around simple ways to incorporate more protein into everyday lunches.
The session highlighted a variety of ingredients that can easily be added to meals, helping to support energy levels and keep pupils feeling fuller for longer. With a strong emphasis on practical choices, the initiative encouraged pupils to think about how small additions can make a meaningful difference to their overall nutrition.
The response was extremely positive, with plenty of interest, questions and enthusiastic participation. Pupils engaged well with the concept, exploring different combinations and leaving with a clearer understanding of how to build balanced meals.
Continuing the journey
These latest visits reflect the growing impact of Sophie’s work across our partner independent schools. By bringing nutrition into everyday school life through assemblies, interactive sessions and menu development she is helping pupils make more informed choices that support both their wellbeing and performance.
We’re excited to keep building on this work and expanding the programme across more schools in the months ahead.
