Ocean Day at St Leonards School was a fun and hands-on way for pupils to explore the wonders of the sea. Pupils investigated rockpools and discovered why seaweed and the intertidal zone are so important for healthy oceans.
Seaweed expert Jayson Byles led an interactive workshop on kelp forests, showing how they support marine life, while our Development Chef shared interesting insights about fish and their role in ocean ecosystems.
The day finished with a fish-themed lunch prepared by the Sodexo chefs, and Jayson even made a delicious seaweed soup, giving pupils a real taste of the ocean.
At Independents by Sodexo, we love bringing learning and food together. Workshops like Ocean Day help pupils build confidence, try new things and explore the world around them in a fun, hands-on way. We’re passionate about making food that’s nourishing, enjoyable and inspiring for everyone in the school community.
